Welcome to Franklin County Regional Airport
The Franklin County Regional Airport (FCRA), located just northeast of the Borough of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, is owned and operated by the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority (SARAA).
FCRA is the primary general aviation airport in Franklin County located almost directly in the center of the County. Annual operations at FCRA are approximately 13,500 with activities such as recreational flying, agricultural spraying, corporate/business flying, aerial inspections, and various community events. FCRA is also home to a major east coast skydiving center.
The airport's runway (6/24) is laid out in a northeast-southwest direction and is 3,300 feet long and 75 feet wide. A single lane 30-foot wide taxiway provides access to the aircraft parking ramp and hanger areas. Landside facilities include nine T-hangar units, 11,730 square feet of hangar space and 1,150 square foot administration building.
SARAA formed a Study Advisory Group (SAG) to develop a list of recommended improvements at the airport. Those improvements include: rehabilitation of the runway, taxiway, ramp area and other landside faculties, additional parking, signage, hangars, an automated weather observation station (AWOS) and a fueling service.
The improvements are being made on a priority basis and as grant monies become available.
